About me and this blog

Hi there! I am so exited that you’ve found my blog. On this blog you can follow my journey to an eco-positive lifestyle! Eco-positive lifestyle? That’s right! I want to do more good on this beautiful planet than bad. Meaning that I want to leave this earth behind even more beautiful than it was when I was born here. I read and have read a lot of blogs which have inspired me, brought me joy and taught me a lot, so why wouldn’t people experience this with my own blog? So, I took a leap and became a blogger myself, to inspire others.

About me

Right, who thinks she and her lifestyle is so interesting to dedicate a blog to it? *Raises hand*. Yep, me, Romee Hoeksma. A young woman (at this very moment 24) from The Netherlands who is totally fascinated by anything that has to do with the environment and pollution since 2014. My favorite colour is pink, I have the cutest Frenchie, I’m 156 cm tall (if you can call it tall) and I study work for a company that is helping people to make their homes more sustainable, to sum up a few things.

What this blog is about

As the title of my blog says, this blog is about an eco-positive lifestyle. Yes, I know I’ve said that before. It means that while I’m here on this earth, I want to have a positive impact, rather than a negative. Subjects I personally love and write about are; zero wasre, veganism, minimalism, vintage clothing and fair fashion, intersectional feminism, volunteering and other sustainable and social subjects.

How my journey started

Some lines above I mentioned that I’ve been obsessed with the environment and pollution since 2014. Before that I’d classify myself ‘normal’, just like every other teen. Trash was just that, trash. And away was just away (we always speak of ‘away’ when we put something in the garbage). Now, my vision has changed, a lot. The way I looked at trash en pollution was changed by Rae Strauss. I found Rachelle on Twitter and then I found het website, www.myzerowaste.com. Rae was living a zero waste lifestyle. Life without trash, could this really be true? I was stunned.

I started reading her blog, and read more, and read more. The challenge to produce as little trash as possible (and to create the smallest possible footprint) already then appealed to me. I kept finding more and more information about trash and pollution and what it was doing to our world. Shock. Yes, really, I was in shock. How could this all be happening while no one did anything about it? I learned that there are people doing something about this, people like Rae. And so, I started reducing my waste and footprint myself. Because trash wasn’t just trash, and away was anything but away. And so one thing let to another, because everything is related. After a while I became vegan, stopped buying anything new and tried to boycott planes. I had a new goal: living an eco-positive lifestyle. This teen was going green!

Why I started this blog

I started this blog in the first place because I just love to write and inspire. I want to show the world how I live an eco-positive life. And even more important, that it is fun and important! What you want to do with all this information, that’s up to you. I hope to inspire you. Together we can make this world a little more beautiful.

Do you want to follow me anywhere else? You can! On the right side you can see a button where you can enter your e-mail, you will receive an e-mail every time I write a new post. I also have a Youtube-channel where I post vlogs and informational videos, but these are in Dutch. Furthermore you can find me at Instagram.  I’ll see you there.

Yours sincerely,
Romee
