Book about creating good habits: The Happiness Project

The past week I was sick, I had a bad flu. However, I felt like this was a good moment to share about happiness. Because I felt so grateful now that I gotten better again. A good moment to share the book: The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. A book about creating good habits and an intentional lifestyle.

The Happiness Project

I have to admit, the title (and subtitle) screams that is a self-help book for unhappy people. That’s at least what I felt when I saw someone reading it in the train. Yet, I don’t think it is true. You can’t read in a book how you should be happy. However, you can read it because you want to live more intentional. I’d say it’s a book about creating good habits and creating the life you want. It came out in 2009.

The book was written by Gretchen Rubin and so this book is about her personal happiness project. In the book she mentions clearly that everyone has their own happiness project and so every one is different and unique. A happiness project is a certain period of time in which people really try to improve themselves in different kind of ways. Even though Gretchen’s life is much different than mine, she has kids for instance, I could relate and I found her personal project interesting. It was fun to read! And also, I liked that there was science in the book, things that have proven to make people happier. Helping others, for example.

My Personal Opinion

As I said, this isn’t a book that is going to teach you how to be happy. But it is still very insightful! Gretchen really made me think about my life, whether I was doing what I wanted, how I treated other people, if I was heading where I want and about intention. The happiness project is a book for everybody I’d say!

I lended the book from I friend, just like I did with the Marie Kondo book I shared. Lending from friends or at the library is the most sustainable way to read books.
