You might have read this in the ‘about me‘ section: I’m a student. And as a student, I usually go to school five days of the week. That’s a huge chunk of my time and so I have to eat at school too, just like any other student. We have a fairly okay kanteen at our school and a supermarket nearby, but most of that food is packaged (in plastic). That’s why I’ve been bringing my own lunch box to school since the first day I went there (my mom taught me this zero waste habit), along with my reusable water bottle. Old-fashion? Maybe. But it is zero waste!

I try to become financially independent. This means that I don’t have to work for my money any longer, but that my money works for me. I hope to one day live of the interest of my investments. This way I can wake up every single day and choose what I want to do and not be stuck to a certain job. With this freedom I hope to be able to dedicate more of my time to sustainability issues in mostly unpaid forms. In this category you can read all about that. Minimalism and saving money are subcategories of this category. To read why, see the description of those individual categories.
DIY zero waste make-up remover
A while back I wrote a blogpost about a zero waste alternative for cotton pads. These pads can be used for anything, but I mostly use them for removing make-up from my face. Yes, I live zero waste and am all about self-love, but I do wear make-up from time to time. One doesn’t rule out the others. That’s why I am writing an addition to that post today: DIY zero waste make-up remover.

Zero waste handkerchiefs
Autumn has officially begun and for many of us this means sniveling and blowing our noses. And what do you use for that? Handkerchiefs (I hope)! Unfortunately a single use handkerchief doesn’t live a long life, you blow your nose once (or twice?) and hop, into the bin (often to landfill (!), because in The Netherlands handkerchiefs can’t be recycled). There has to be another way!
Zero waste shaving
The ‘usual’ shaving blades are often single use. And where do these single use items end up? Right, landfill. That just so happens to be the place where I don’t want to see them. What’s the alternative? The safety razor, the zero waste way of shaving! Continue reading “Zero waste shaving”
A zero waste alternative to cotton pads
Cotton pads. As a girl who wears make-up, I can hardly live without them. A little bit of make-up remover on there and you can scrub. But then what? Jep, after just one use these pads end up at landfill. That has to change!
Zero waste DIY deodorant with 4 ingredients
This post is about the first step I took towards a zero waste lifestyle. I didn’t come up with this idea myself. No, it was my mom. She does not thrive to live a zero waste lifestyle and when she handed me the recipe (and made it for me), back then I didn’t either. In the meantime, it’s been a succes for over three years.
