Do I think secondhand clothing is the solution to the fast fashion crises?

Last week I shared some ‘new’ secondhand purchases of mine. I do that a lot, you can read more articles about secondhand clothing I bought among others here, here and here. I also wrote a post on why and how I buy secondhand. Conclusion: it’s the most sustainable option. That’s why I do it. But do I think secondhand fashion is the solution to the whole fast fashion crisis? I’ll tell you. Continue reading “Do I think secondhand clothing is the solution to the fast fashion crises?”

4 secondhand clothing items I bought in August 2019

It’s time again, I bought ‘new’ secondhand clothing. A few weeks back I bought four secondhand pieces of clothing. My mom and I went to the thrift shop by coincidence. Since I got my driver’s license now, I wanted to practice driving in our car for the first time. The thrift shop in Enschede we went to is quite a long way and so we went by car. Not very sustainable actually, but the clothing is! Here’s more about the four pieces I bought. Continue reading “4 secondhand clothing items I bought in August 2019”

8 secondhand clothing pieces I bought

Sometimes I decide to dedicate a full blogpost to one piece of secondhand clothing. Sometimes I write about two things I bought. It depends on my mood and what point I’m trying to make. But, lately there have been so many things I want to write about that I just want to catch up a little bit. In this blogpost, I’ll show you the last 8 pieces I bought secondhand. How to buy sustainable clothing in 4 steps

On this blog I’ve shared a bunch of posts about clothing I bought. Sometimes new clothing, like when I bought underwear or tights. But mostly secondhand, such as this jeans I bought or this swimsuit. In each post I explain the choices I make, but I realized I never really wrote a guide on how to buy sustainable clothes. So, here it is today!

I bought a new thrifted item: jeans

You might think it’s not worth the effort to write a blogpost about just one piece of clothing I bought, but I disagree. So, here I am, sharing just one item I bought a while back. Why? Because I think it’s important to value every single sustainable choice made. So, here I am, with a small blogpost about a jeans. Continue reading “I bought a new thrifted item: jeans”

Tv Show about Sustainable Fashion: ‘Genaaid’

Before you read any further, I must tell you something first. The show I am about to share is broadcasted on Dutch television, so it therefore is in Dutch. I like to have consistency in my blog, that’s why is blogpost is in English. So, if you’re not Dutch, you probably can’t understand the show. Or you can work on your Dutch haha. Anyway, ‘Genaaid’ is a show I watched is about fast fashion ánd sustainable fashion. And I feel like you should watch it. Continue reading “Tv Show about Sustainable Fashion: ‘Genaaid’”

Sustainable and fair tights by Swedish Stockings

I bought tights! My last tights broke about 4 months ago I think, so it took me a long time. It took me long because I think more consciously about buying things now. Will this add value to my life? Will I wear it? That’s a good thing really. But, it also took me a long time because I sort of have a love/hate relationship with tights. So, here I am today talking about this relationship and what I did with it. Continue reading “Sustainable and fair tights by Swedish Stockings”

Another secondhand piece I bought: A swimsuit

Today I want to show you a ‘new’ secondhand piece I got my hands on. Since I think some people have a wrong view of secondhand clothing, I want to show every piece I buy myself, to give an image of secondhand clothing. Because, sometimes I hear the reasons why people like buying only new: they think secondhand clothing looks bad and old. I think I can proof that’s not true.

Must watch: series: Sweatshop

In my opinion, it isn’t fair that we don’t see the story behind every single thing we buy. Because, everything we buy has an impact. That impact can be low (which I prefer of course), and it can be extremely high. It can be horrific to see, but also beautiful. Today I want to talk about a product of which we don’t see the impact. It’s fast fashion. Because there is a way to see what’s behind your clothes most of the time, in a series called Sweatshop. Continue reading “Must watch: series: Sweatshop”
