Investing in solar panels: ZonnepanelenDelen

Last week I published a post in which I calculated my negative impact on the planet and how many earths we would need if everybody lived like me, considering we only have one. The biggest category in this calculation is stuff. And a big part of that for me were solar panels I bought. In the calculation that seems negative, because it’s something you buy new. But today I want to tell about a platform for in investing in solar panels: ZonnepanelenDelen.

All the Cosmetics I Own as a Minimalist

So, I didn’t really know what to call this blogpost. Beauty products sound weird to me. Nobody needs special products to be beautiful I guess. Stuff can’t make you beautiful. Eventually I decided to call this category cosmetics. If you’d ask me if I’m a fan of cosmetics I’d answer no. But toothpaste and soap are cosmetics too and I definitely do need those! I claim to be a minimalist, so I thought it’d be good to share what cosmetics I use on a daily basis as an addition to my make-up stash from last week. Here are all the cosmetics I own as a minimalist.

All the Make-up I Own as a Minimalist

I have been wanting to post about my make-up stash for a long time. However, I waited and waited. I wanted it to be perfect. I am slowly transitioning to a low waste and minimalistic make-up stash. And since it’s not perfect right now I didn’t post it. But I don’t  think that’s completely fair. I don’t start where I want to be. For me it’s all a journey too. So, why not share where I am right now? Today’s post is my entire make-up stash as it is right now. Here’s all the make-up I own as a minimalist.

Verlangen naar Minder by Jelle Derckx

Quick disclaimer: this is a Dutch book, so if you don’t speak Dutch it is kind of a no-go. But, a lot of people out here are Dutch and the book I am about to share is so good I had to share it. Today I’m sharing another book about minimalism. It’s a subject I can read thousands of books about. Each minimalism story is different. The past week a friend asked for book recommendations and I recommended this book I am about to share with you to her. It made me realize that I hadn’t shared it here. So, today I am sharing the book Verlangen naar Minder by Jelle Derckx.

Everything I bought new in 2018

My first monday-post in 2019! Time to reflect a little. Not on personal goals, because I am not into that this year. But on sustainability goals! It’s about stuff, because buying new stuff in not sustainable and I’ve trying to avoid that the past year. But, how have I done? And have I bought many things new in all of 2018? Here’s everything I bought new in 2018.

Zero Waste DIY Business Cards

I think you’ve noticed by now: I am an entrepreneur! Wow. That sounds so fancy. And it is! I have started my own webshop for package free groceries in Enschede: Loose, to do something about our big problem with waste. It has been fun, exiting and scary at the same time. Currently I am working on promoting Loose some more, because it’s necessary to get more customers. One of the things I now do: hand out business cards! I’ve made them myself and in this blogpost I’ll show you how to make zero waste DIY business cards.

Lekker Koken met Restjes by Daisy Scholte

Food waste, a huge and urgent topic if you ask me. Even though it’s not the biggest thing you can do to combat the climate crisis, I hear a lot about it around me about it. I think this is the case because it’s very visible but also because there are hundreds of tricks to reduce food waste. The motto? Just eat it. Even though I said that preventing food waste is not the biggest thing you can do to combat the climate crisis, that doesn’t mean that it’s not important. On the contrary! And so today I’m discussing a book that can help you with fighting food waste: Lekker Koken met Restjes by Daisy Scholte (a Dutch book).

The Minimalists

If you follow my weekly diaries or know me well in real-life, you know that I try to possess as little stuff as possible. If I look back at the Romee from about 3 years ago my mindset has completely shifted. I was a hoarder, more stuff was better. Especially when something was offered to me and it was cheap I immediately thought I needed it. I remember one day where I walked into a store, HEMA, and I only needed one thing. I thought it would be very weird to only buy one thing and so I picked two more useless items just so that I didn’t buy just one thing. It’s insane, I know. Luckily I’m not that same person anymore. I am a minimalist now. The mindset is here and I’m always working on it. There are two people who got me into minimalist. Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus: The Minimalists.

Zero Waste Dry Shampoo

Today I want to share a recipe with you. But not a recipe for in the kitchen. Good for me! Because to be honest, I’m not such a big talent in the kitchen just yet. I barely ever cook. That has to change, but that’s for another time. Today I have a recipe for you for in your hair! I’m talking about: zero waste dry shampoo.

Experiences over stuff

When you create a WordPress account, they ask you to write a little bit about yourself. One of the things I wrote about myself is that I am a wannabe minimalist. Yes, an even more sustainable lifestyle! Life without trash, on my way to veganism, more volunteering, working on my carbon footprint and minimalism. Yes, I’ve changed a lot since I started this blog. For me it all feels like personal progress. In my head most has changed, my mindset is different. And mindset is the thing I want to talk about today. Valuing experiences over stuff.
