Category: How to guides

For some subjects on this blog I write special how-to-guides. That’s because these subjects tend to be a little difficult in practice, but at the same time they’re one of the most important changes to be made. A guide on how to make sustainable food choices for example, or on how to ditch the plane. Just to give you a little guidance to stick to.

Finding ethical fashion: Good on You

Posted on May 24, 2021October 19, 2022

As you might know by now, I avoid buying new clothes. It works 99% of the time, but there are is that 1% when it doesn’t work out. There are some things that need to be bought new. But if I do buy new, I buy ethical. If there is a sustainable and fair option,…

How to go vegan

Posted on October 26, 2020July 24, 2023

How do you switch to a vegan/plant-based diet? This is a question people ask me a lot in real life. When I got the question again some time ago, I realized: I’ve never written anything about this. That’s a sin, because such a post would be so convenient to refer these people to. This way…

How to get rid of clothes in a responsible way

Posted on March 30, 2020July 6, 2023

I am on a journey to my ultimate capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe can have many forms and has a different meaning to different people. To me it is a small wardrobe with items that I love and can all match. It is an ongoing journey. And so I buy things, but also get rid…

How to Stop Flying

Posted on January 20, 2020July 6, 2023

This time of the year people are starting to plan their summer holidays again. Yet, flying has been under a lot of attention the last couple of years. It’s a way of travelling that is so environmentally destructive, it’s insane. Flying is very harmful in the climate change crisis, but there’s one aspect of it…

How to make sustainable purchases

Posted on December 2, 2019July 6, 2023

I’ve written guides before on this blog. Here you can read how to make sustainable food choices and I’ve also written an article on buying sustainable clothing. Yet, these are just two categories of everything you can buy. Yes, they are the most important in my life, the two things I buy the most. But…

How to Make Sustainable Food Choices

Posted on June 10, 2019July 6, 2023

Last week I published a guide on how to buy sustainable clothing. Clothes are not something you buy weekly, at least, I hope not. But there’s something I do buy every week. And that is food. Food is something we all need and so we can reduce a huge part of our negative impact on…

How to Buy Sustainable Clothing

Posted on June 3, 2019July 6, 2023

On this blog I’ve shared a bunch of posts about clothing I bought. Sometimes new clothing, like when I bought underwear or tights. But mostly secondhand, such as this jeans I bought or this swimsuit. In each post I explain the choices I make, but I realized I never really wrote a guide on buying sustainable clothes. So, here it is today!…

The 5 R’s of Zero Waste

Posted on April 15, 2019July 6, 2023

I’ve been blogging on here for a while now, I think it’s been about three years. The starting point of this whole green and eco-positive lifestyle has been a zero waste lifestyle. It’s the thing I started blogging about at first, but over the years it has evolved into a whole different lifestyle. But, a…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee Hoeksma and I am on a journey to an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle in which I have a more positive than negative impact on the beautiful planet earth. On this blog you can follow my journey to a life with only positive impact. At this blog you can find all sorts of things, from tips to recipes to personal experiences, but most of all fun (I hope!). I write about how I want to change the world, but don’t look at it as if I’m judging you. If anything, I like responses from my dear readers the most, so don’t hesitate to contact me or respond to any of my posts!

Yours sincerely,
Romee

Check it out via de link in mijn bio
