I found it. The ultimate book that tells me how to eat in order to live longest and best. It’s called How not to die by Micheal Gregor. A book that describes the scientific basis of what’s written in it and tells me on a day to day basis what to eat. When I think…

At this moment, we have a huge agricultural crisis in The Netherlands. It’s one of the things that made our government fall this past week. This crisis inspires me to share a documentary that I’ve seen a while ago, one that tackles the global agricultural crisis we’re in. Today I’ll tell you more about the…

We should all be feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Posted on June 12, 2023June 11, 2023

This title says it all. We should all be feminists. But we are not. I think that has to do with a negative image that many people have of feminists. The word feminist even has a negative connotation. People think of it as a curse word. ‘Oh no, I’m not a feminist, I’m not that…

Series: Dominee of Koopman

It’s been a while, but today I’m sharing a series with you again. ‘Dominee of Koopman’, a Dutch series. In English it would say ‘Reverend or merchant’. It’s a series which dives a little deeper in the world of Dutch development aid. Something I’m very much interested in, because I feel like countries which are…

If I must believe up-to-date numbers, only a small percentage of people in society are transgender. Numbers vary, but the highest number I’ve seen is 4%. That’s a minority. Most people say they don’t know someone who is transgender. And as is usually the case for minorities, there are many misconceptions about that minority. And…

Think that one person can’t make a big difference? Then I have a really inspiring documentary recommendation for you: I am Greta. I am Greta is a documentary that tells the story of Greta Thunberg. And I think Greta Thunberg is someone almost all people on this planet know. Or at least I hope so….

Documentary: A Life On Our Planet

Posted on December 19, 2022January 24, 2023

Today I’m sharing a documentary again: A Life On Our Planet narrated by David Attenborough. A documentary that releases many emotions. But it ends with hope and a sense of urgency. And that’s the reason I keep sharing documentaries like these. We need the constant reminder of what we’re doing to ourselves on this planet,…

Documentary: Knock Down the House

Posted on November 28, 2022January 24, 2023

Unfortunately, in 2022, women are still underrepresented in politics worldwide. Of course the numbers differ strongly per country, but when I look at my own country I am still very disappointed. In the House of Representatives in the Netherlands (‘de Tweede Kamer’), we currently have 57 women. That’s 38%, because there are 150 seats. Therefore,…

Now that I have a full-time job, I have more money than I ever had in my life. I am so privileged that I have a stable income. In this phase of life, most people use that money to buy expensive things for themselves, a car, a house, phones, etc. Most people adapt their lifestyle…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee Hoeksma and I am on a journey to an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle in which I have a more positive than negative impact on the beautiful planet earth. On this blog you can follow my journey to a life with only positive impact. At this blog you can find all sorts of things, from tips to recipes to personal experiences, but most of all fun (I hope!). I write about how I want to change the world, but don’t look at it as if I’m judging you. If anything, I like responses from my dear readers the most, so don’t hesitate to contact me or respond to any of my posts!

Yours sincerely,
Romee

Vegan spekjes lijken me er bijvoorbeeld heerlijk in! Europa is prachtig! Dit is Boheems Zwitserland in Tsjechië 🇨🇿.
