I personally love non-fiction books about living a sustainable lifestyle. I like to know the facts, the things that matter the most, the impact of my choices. But sometimes I like a different green book too, a personal one. It’s great to read about someone else’s choices, someone else’s struggles and their findings. And so…

What you need to know about GMO’s

Posted on January 6, 2020June 29, 2025

There’s a subject I’ve been learning more about the past years, which is not really that relevant for me personally. It’s not really something I come in contact with, since it’s forbidden where I live, The Netherlands. However, I do like to learn about global challenges and problems. One opposed solution to the global food…

Disclaimer: this show is in Dutch. So, if you don’t speak Dutch this might not be a very useful post for you (or you might want to learn the language haha). World problems, for most of us western people they are surreal. We see the issues in the news and in newspapers all the time….

I’m always a bit hesitant to share books about a certain topic: food. It’s a difficult subject and of course I am not an expert. But I do think I’m here to inform you about the books I’ve read and found really helpful for me, because it might be helpful for you too. Today I…

Over the past weeks I’ve really noticed that minimalism is becoming my standard mindset. It’s an integrated part of my life, sort of an automatic pilot for me. Over time I’ve already shared some book tips about minimalism, the book from the Minimalists, or this one from Jelle Derckx and even a more practical one from Marie Kondo….

Documentary: The Gamechangers

Posted on October 21, 2019November 26, 2024

For me there are multiple reasons as to why I’m vegan. Animal rights, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change, inefficiency, personal health and even more. So when someone asks why I’m vegan this is always difficult, there are so many reasons! I try to explain it briefly but when I say something as: ‘for my…

In contradiction to last week’s article, it’s time for something positive again. Well, maybe positive isn’t the right word, but beautiful is. It’s time for something beautiful. Because gosh, I’ve waited too long to share this documentary with you (don’t I say that every time?). This series came out on Netflix in April 2019. I’ve…

It’s holiday season and that means reading a lot of books and watching a lot of documentaries for me personally. I love both! Last week I shared a book so today it is time for a documentary I think you should see. This one is one that will make you smile from ear to ear,…

Yes, the cover of this book tells you exactly what to expect. This book is about minimalism. The core of minimalism really. It’s quite a short book I’d say, which allignes exactly with their message: focus on the important things. This book is written by Ryan Nicodemus and Joshua Fields Millburn, also known as the…

Quick disclaimer: this is a Dutch book, so if you don’t speak Dutch it is kind of a no-go. But, a lot of people out here are Dutch and the book I am about to share is so good I had to share it. Today I’m sharing another book about minimalism. It’s a subject I…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee and I live an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle with more positive than negative impact on beautiful planet earth. Compared to most people, I live extremely sustainable. I don’t fly, eat meat or animal products, buy only secondhand clothing, etc. On the other hand, I try to help others as much as I can by donating a big chunk of my income, donating plasma, donating poop (yes!), volunteering, etc. On this blog you can read all about my lifestyle with only positive impact. I also have a Dutch Youtube channel (@duurzaamleven) and Dutch Instagram (@duurzaamlevenro). If you have specific questions for me, feel free to ask me anything.

Yours sincerely,
Romee (she/her)
