3 online sources for great vegan recipes

When you go vegan, it’s best to keep making the same recipes you used to. You just veganize the recipe. Swap the meat for vegan meat, etcetera. Once you’re used to all that, it’s nice to try some new things. Whole-foods recipes for example, or from a specific kitchen. Personally, I am in that phase…

Tabbouleh recipe

As you might have seen last week in my vegan food diary last week, I try to follow a whole-foods vegan diet as much as I can. To ensure this, I use the daily dozen checklist from Micheal Gregor. The daily dozen tells what you should eat on a daily basis. I must say, I…

After having tried to live a zero waste lifestyle for about 8 years now, I have found my way in doing zero waste groceries. Therefore,I know exactly what’s hard to find and what’s not. Today I want to share a recipe for one item that’s impossible to find zero waste: vegan cheese sauce. If something’s…

Posted on November 14, 2022January 21, 2025

Since a few years I’ve been making my own air freshener. It’s easy to make, cheap and sustainable. This past week I already shared the recipe on Instagram in a reel. That reel was extremely popular, but I realized I had never shared the recipe on this blog before. But today is the day! Here’s…

I’ve noticed that a lot of people still struggle to make vegan recipes for dinner. Now that I have been vegan for more than 4 years, I find it hard to recognize this struggle. For me personally, making any recipe vegan is not hard at all. Also, after all this time I know where to…

DIY Zero Waste Hairspray

Posted on January 10, 2022January 17, 2025

I am a woman with long hair. And oh my, that can be a struggle. It rarely shapes exactly the way you want it too. Too loose, too tight, bumps here, bumps there. I guess it will be an endless struggle. There is however one thing that makes it easier for me: hairspray. But over…

Sticky Tempeh Barbecue Ribs

Posted on September 13, 2021January 16, 2025

Last week I did not post anything on this blog due to personal circumstances. I had a post planned which was perfect for that week, but now maybe not so much. I am still posting it because I believe we will still have enough sunny weather in September in the Netherlands to do some barbecuing….

Basic Hummus Recipe

Posted on June 21, 2021January 15, 2025

Bread. It’s a typical Dutch thing if you’d ask me. Dutch people eat a lot of bread. For breakfast, with lunch, inbetween. Weekdays, weekend days. Bread seems to be the basis of the Dutch diet. Add cow-cheese to it and there it is: your typical Dutch lunch. And so, since I’ve gone vegan I made…

It’s time for another recipe! It’s been a while. Since I moved out of my parent’s houses and into my own apartment with my boyfriend in Groningen I’ve tried all kinds of DIY recipes. Some things worked out great, others not so much. Today I want to share the first thing I tried to make…

Vegan ‘Egg’ Salad Recipe

Posted on April 6, 2020January 30, 2025

I’ve been living a vegan lifestyle for about 2.5 years now. It’s been wonderful and I can’t imagine myself ever changing my diet again. Since I’ve gone vegan there are a lot more vegan alternatives for non-vegan products than before. Everything has become even easier! However, this does not mean that there is a substitute…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee and I live an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle with more positive than negative impact on beautiful planet earth. Compared to most people, I live extremely sustainable. I don’t fly, eat meat or animal products, buy only secondhand clothing, etc. On the other hand, I try to help others as much as I can by donating a big chunk of my income, donating plasma, donating poop (yes!), volunteering, etc. On this blog you can read all about my lifestyle with only positive impact. I also have a Dutch Youtube channel (@duurzaamleven) and Dutch Instagram (@duurzaamlevenro). If you have specific questions for me, feel free to ask me anything.

Yours sincerely,
Romee (she/her)
