My secondhand outfits in a random week

Posted on May 27, 2024January 27, 2025

I thought it was time to share some outfits of mine again. Every once in a while I share my outfits for an entire week. This way, you get a realistic view of what secondhand clothing looks like. In separate posts, I often share what secondhand clothing I buy. However, in those posts, you never get to see what the items look like in an outfit as a whole. With the post I am sharing today, I basically want to show you that when it comes to clothing and outfits, I look like most people. Secondhand clothing is a sustainable and fair alternative to fast fashion, but it’s not mainstream (yet). Time to change that! Here are my secondhand outfits in a random week.

Tuesday 14-5-2024

Today was a work day for me. I went to the office and luckily, I can wear whatever I feel comfortable in to work. This outfit is 100% secondhand. The headband is a hand-me-down. I got it from an ex-roommate for free. The earrings were secondhand from Marktplaats, they cost 8,90 euros. I don’t wear these earrings too often because they’re quite heavy and I don’t want to stretch my ears. Then the dress, I bought it in a secondhand shop for 20 euros years back. My shoes are not too visible on this picture. I am wearing black boots from Vinted, I bought them secondhand for 8 euros.

Today I chose to showcase my running outfit. That’s because I am free on Wednesday. On my free Wednesdays, I usually go running around noon and after that I mostly wear my pyjama all day hahaha. I know, it’s awful. I just relax best in my pyjama. But I am not going to show my pyjama here. So let’s talk about the running outfit, which is 100% secondhand as well. The cap I’m wearing is from Vinted, I bought it secondhand for 3 euros. Then the shirt, I bought that one for 1,50 euros secondhand on Vinted as well. The pants is also from Vinted. That one was a bit more expensive, 25 euros. That’s because of the brand. I hate it when brands show clearly, but this is the one brand that seems to fit nicely. The shoes, also secondhand from Vinted for 15 euros. The only thing that’s not from Vinted is the pink band I’m wearing around my waist, I use it to hold my phone while I listen to music or podcasts. I bought in a secondhand store for 2,50 euros.

Another day at work, I went to the office today. Past Tuesday the weather was extremely good and warm, today was a bit colder again. I am wearing a shirt that I got secondhand from my mom. The skirt is one I bought secondhand at a secondhand clothing store for 20 euros (my mom actually bought it for me). The stockings were also free, a friend who didn’t use them anymore gave them to me. The shoes were the same as Tuesday, they are secondhand and cost 8 euros on Vinted.

Today I worked from home and was planning to go to a party afterwards. This asks for some tactical choices. An outfit that is comfy enough for working from home, but nice enough for a party. I chose to go with something simple. The t-shirt is secondhand, I bought it at a secondhand shop for 4 euros. The pants I got for free from a friend of mine. I have worn it so often it kinda has lost its stretch, I am curious to see how long it’ll last still. I bought the shoes secondhand on Vinted for 18 euros.

After the party on Friday, I slept at a friend (who was also at the party). When I do that, I try to take very little stuff with me so that I don’t have to drag much along. Therefore, I only took a t-shirt with me. As you can see, the rest of the outfit is the same tocay. I bought the black t-shirt secondhand on Vinted for 3 euros. I wanted something alike the grey t-shirt, but unfortunately the model turned out quite different. That’s okay, I still love it. The pants I got, like I said, for free from a friend. The shoes cost 18 euros via Vinted.

Sunday 19-5-2024

The weather in The Netherlands in very unpredictable in this period. In the morning it was about 25 degrees and very hot, but in the afternoon it became cloudy and quite cold. And so I wore this outfit about half the day. But well, I took the photo in the morning. I got the necklace from my boyfriend, he found it lying on the streets, so it’s secondhand and free haha. The dress I bought in a secondhand shop for 15 euros. And the shoes were also secondhand, from Vinted. These must be the most expensive items I own, as they cost me 60 euros. I love the fact that my clothing is cheap, as it makes me less materialistic. As you can see a little bit, I tried on some new eyeliner today. It’s not exactly what I expected, but it was only the first try.

Monday 20-5-2024

Today was a national holiday in The Netherlands, so I was free from work today. Another day with varying weather, so I went with a jeans and shirt to play it safe. If it was cold, I would wear a sweater over it. Today I am wearing one item that I bought new. Years ago, before I knew much about sustainable and fair fashion. It’s the grey top, from H&M. I don’t remember the price, maybe 10 euros? Way to cheap for new clothing. The pants is secondhand though, I bought it for 10 euros. The shoes were secondhand and cost me 18 euros, like I mentioned before.

Price of the entire outfit: 38 euros (not entirely sure)

That’s it! This post shows you my secondhand outfits in a random week. Out of all items, only one is still new. I have made a lot of progress the past years and I’m happy to see it worked out. For now it’s all about continuing this trend.

Yours sincerely,
Romee

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee and I live an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle with more positive than negative impact on beautiful planet earth. Compared to most people, I live extremely sustainable. I don’t fly, eat meat or animal products, buy only secondhand clothing, etc. On the other hand, I try to help others as much as I can by donating a big chunk of my income, donating plasma, donating poop (yes!), volunteering, etc. On this blog you can read all about my lifestyle with only positive impact. I also have a Dutch Youtube channel (@duurzaamleven) and Dutch Instagram (@duurzaamlevenro). If you have specific questions for me, feel free to ask me anything.

Yours sincerely,
Romee (she/her)
