Posted on January 30, 2023July 6, 2023

It’s still January, the month when a lot of people in our society start dieting again. Most people view dieting as a ‘good intention’ for the new year. I know a bunch of people around me who are dieting right now. New year, new me, right? Well, no. There are so many reasons why diets…

Think that one person can’t make a big difference? Then I have a really inspiring documentary recommendation for you: I am Greta. I am Greta is a documentary that tells the story of Greta Thunberg. And I think Greta Thunberg is someone almost all people on this planet know. Or at least I hope so….

My positive impact in 2022

Posted on January 9, 2023January 8, 2023

Another year has passed and so it’s time for evaluation, just like last week. Last week’s post was about a huge chunk of my negative impact, all the new stuff I bought in 2022. Today I want to look at the other side of the medal, the positive impact. In this post I’ll share my…

All my new purchases in 2022

Posted on January 2, 2023January 2, 2023

Each year I challenge myself to buy nothing new, as that is the most sustainable thing to do for the planet. 2022 has officially ended, so it’s time to see how I did the past year. Today I am sharing all the new purchases that I made in 2022. It’s time to reflect how much…

Eco-positive toilet paper: The Good Roll

Eco-positive toilet paper: The Good Roll

Posted on December 26, 2022January 22, 2023

The Good Roll is an eco-positive toilet paper brand. The product itself is the most sustainable toilet paper I could find on the market. And besides that, they use a part of their profit to make the world a better place. With half of the profits they built toilets for people in need. Being sustainable…

A Life On Our Planet

Documentary: A Life On Our Planet

Posted on December 19, 2022January 24, 2023

Today I’m sharing a documentary again: A Life On Our Planet narrated by David Attenborough. A documentary that releases many emotions. But it ends with hope and a sense of urgency. And that’s the reason I keep sharing documentaries like these. We need the constant reminder of what we’re doing to ourselves on this planet,…

Why hunting is unethical

Posted on December 12, 2022December 11, 2022

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post in which I explained why sports fishing is unethical. Sports fishing is something that some people do for fun. Today I want to discuss another hobby that includes killing: hunting. Unfortunately for the animals, there are still some people which hunt. But I would like to believe…

Racism

Posted on December 5, 2022December 4, 2022

Under the category ‘intersectional feminism‘ I would like to write about all forms of oppression. Starting that category, I wrote something about intersectional feminism in general. After that it was time to write something about the general forms of oppression within intersectional feminism. The first subject I wrote about was ableism. Now it’s time to…

I’m quitting the monthly news flashes

Posted on December 1, 2022July 6, 2023

For over two years now, I’ve been writing news flashes. At first weekly, but after 5 weeks that changed to a monthly news flash. I wanted to do something against the negativity that comes with mainstream news, which makes a lot of people feel powerless. But after two years I’ve re-evaluated and I have decided…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee Hoeksma and I am on a journey to an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle in which I have a more positive than negative impact on the beautiful planet earth. On this blog you can follow my journey to a life with only positive impact. At this blog you can find all sorts of things, from tips to recipes to personal experiences, but most of all fun (I hope!). I write about how I want to change the world, but don’t look at it as if I’m judging you. If anything, I like responses from my dear readers the most, so don’t hesitate to contact me or respond to any of my posts!

Yours sincerely,
Romee
