Documentary: Knock Down the House

Documentary: Knock Down the House

Posted on November 28, 2022January 24, 2023

Unfortunately, in 2022, women are still underrepresented in politics worldwide. Of course the numbers differ strongly per country, but when I look at my own country I am still very disappointed. In the House of Representatives in the Netherlands (‘de Tweede Kamer’), we currently have 57 women. That’s 38%, because there are 150 seats. Therefore,…

Why sport fishing is unethical

Posted on November 21, 2022November 20, 2022

Some time ago I already wrote more about the ethical reasons against fish consumption. That’s all about eating fish or fish products. Today I want to talk about another way in which people abuse fish for no good reason: sport fishing. Maybe it’s a bit obvious that I am against it, as I am vegan…

DIY 2 ingredient air freshener

Posted on November 14, 2022January 24, 2023

Since a few years I’ve been making my own air freshener. It’s easy to make, cheap and sustainable. This past week I already shared the recipe on Instagram in a reel. That reel was extremely popular, but I realized I had never shared the recipe on this blog before. But today is the day! Here’s…

Je Geld of Je Leven

Posted on November 7, 2022January 24, 2023

Now that I have a full-time job, I have more money than I ever had in my life. I am so privileged that I have a stable income. In this phase of life, most people use that money to buy expensive things for themselves, a car, a house, phones, etc. Most people adapt their lifestyle…

News & Personal Impact | October 2022

Posted on November 3, 2022January 24, 2023

Mainstream news in The Netherlands is depressing. It has to be shocking, sensational and topical. This way news gets negative and people feel like the world around them is changing for the worse. They lose trust and feel powerless. Yet, sciences proves it over and over again: the world is getting better every day for humans….

Adopting/Fostering Children

Posted on October 31, 2022October 30, 2022

This post is quite personal. And while writing this down, I feel quite vulnerable. I don’t know why that is so, since I’ve shared my plans for the future a few times before already. In this letter to my future self I wrote down that I want to be a foster parent, so today’s post…

Why biomass is not a sustainable fuel

Posted on October 24, 2022January 22, 2023

This title that I wrote is pretty controversial, because it needs some nuance. And I’ll give that in a minute, I promise. But overall, I dare to say that my personal opinion on biomass is that it’s not a sustainable fuel. In my ideal world we’d need very little to no fuel created by biomass….

The Best Vegan Milk and Butter

Posted on October 17, 2022October 25, 2022

Within this category of the best vegan product list I have written some posts already. I wrote about meat, fish, cheese & eggs. These foods have a wide range of products in them. That’s why I chose to share which products I like best. The category of today is quite different, within this category you…

Life Update: I got a full-time job!

Posted on October 10, 2022October 9, 2022

The last life update that I shared was not so long ago. On July 13th 2022, I officially heard that I graduated. I now have a master of science. Two weeks later I shared that news on this blog and more about what’s next. My focus was to find a job, but keep pursuing my…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee Hoeksma and I am on a journey to an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle in which I have a more positive than negative impact on the beautiful planet earth. On this blog you can follow my journey to a life with only positive impact. At this blog you can find all sorts of things, from tips to recipes to personal experiences, but most of all fun (I hope!). I write about how I want to change the world, but don’t look at it as if I’m judging you. If anything, I like responses from my dear readers the most, so don’t hesitate to contact me or respond to any of my posts!

Yours sincerely,
Romee
