Category: Zero Waste

A zero waste lifestyle is a lifestyle where you create the littlest trash as possible, specifically plastic waste. In this category you can read all about a zero waste lifestyle.

On the picture you see some vegan cookies from really close on a baking mat. The baking mat is light blue and has a lot of stains on it. Zero Waste Baking.

Zero Waste Baking

Sometimes my parents join me in my zero waste lifestyle. And when that happens, I love this lifestyle even more. Zero waste does not have to cost a lot of effort of money all the time, sometimes switches are quite easy! That’s why I present an easy zero waste switch to you today: a baking…

Why Most People Should Use Reusable Straws

Why most people should use reusable straws

Posted on December 12, 2016April 22, 2022

A while back I went into the city center with some friends to get some drinks at a cafe. I wanted an ice tea and so I ordered: ‘Can I have an ice tea without a straw please?’. The waitress looked at me strange and so did my friends. But why is this so odd?…

Zero Waste Menstruation with a Reusable Cup

Posted on December 5, 2016March 11, 2023

Periods! Most people with uteruses have experienced them. Not much fun for us (if you’d ask me), not for the planet. That’s because right now most people use sanitary towels or tampons, single use items. Those end up at landfill, or even worse, in the sewage system. Luckily there are multiple ways to have a…

The 365-Challenge

Posted on November 28, 2016April 22, 2022

I hope that on this blog it’s become obvious that I try to live a (plastic) waste free life and hope to inspire others too. Changing my own habits makes me happy, but somehow it isn’t always enough. So, I try to clean up trash from others too, in a challenge I’m calling the 365-challenge!

5 Plastic-free Ways to Wash your Hair

Posted on November 21, 2016April 22, 2022

Shampoo. Some people use it daily, others once a week and some don’t use it at all (yes, really!). Most people buy shampoo in plastic bottles. So, for those people the following rule applies: the more you wash your hair, the more plastic waste. Luckily, this doesn’t have to be the case. Washing your hair…

Zero Waste Lunching

Posted on November 14, 2016April 22, 2022

You might have read this in the ‘about me‘ section: I’m a student. And as a student, I usually go to school five days of the week. That’s a huge chunk of my time and so I have to eat at school too, just like any other student. We have a fairly okay kanteen at…

Zero Waste Ketchup Recipe

Posted on November 7, 2016July 6, 2023

This week a blogpost in a new category: Recipes! As you can see above, I have made some ketchup the past week. Ketchup is something I have never been able to find without packaging. It is however something I like to eat very much and so I had one option left: putting on my cook’s…

Zero Waste Make-Up Remover

Posted on October 31, 2016July 6, 2023

A while back I wrote a blogpost about a zero waste alternative for cotton pads. These pads can be used for anything, but I mostly use them for removing make-up from my face. Yes, I live zero waste and am all about self-love, but I do wear make-up from time to time. One doesn’t rule out…

A zero waste alternative to single-use bottles

Posted on October 24, 2016July 6, 2023

A drinking bottle. Most people I know have one. You can buy different sorts, in different sizes. It’s an amazing alternative to single-use bottles. A reusable bottle is an item which I always carry with me in my bag, it is a zero waste essential. Today I am telling you more about it.

Zero waste handkerchiefs

Posted on October 10, 2016July 6, 2023

Autumn has officially begun and for many of us this means sniveling and blowing our noses. And what do you use for that? Handkerchiefs (I hope)! Unfortunately a single use handkerchief doesn’t live a long life, you blow your nose once (or twice?) and hop, into the bin (often to landfill (!), because in The…

ABOUT ME

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee Hoeksma and I am on a journey to an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle in which I have a more positive than negative impact on the beautiful planet earth. On this blog you can follow my journey to a life with only positive impact. At this blog you can find all sorts of things, from tips to recipes to personal experiences, but most of all fun (I hope!). I write about how I want to change the world, but don’t look at it as if I’m judging you. If anything, I like responses from my dear readers the most, so don’t hesitate to contact me or respond to any of my posts!

Yours sincerely,
Romee

Vegan spekjes lijken me er bijvoorbeeld heerlijk in! Europa is prachtig!
