Sleeping Naked is Green by Vanessa Farquharson

I personally love non-fiction books about living a sustainable lifestyle. I like to know the facts, the things that matter the most, the impact of my choices. But sometimes I like a different green book too, a personal one. It’s great to read about someone else’s choices, someone else’s struggles and their findings. And so today I am sharing a book about personal sustainable experiences: Sleeping Naked is Green by Vanessa Farquharson.

Advanced Sustainability

Before I share this book, I want to highlight that I find that this is not a sustainability book to start with. If your new to living green or sustainable, I’d suggest you read something else first. This is the book that I would suggest you start with because I tells you the basis of sustainable. The 10 steps where you decrease the biggest amount of your negative impact. Where you should start and where you can make the biggest changes. That is absolutely the starting point.

If you got that base, then Sleeping Naked is Green is a great next step, to challenge yourself to even make small sustainable choices. I’d say Sleeping Naked is Green is for more advanced sustainability practicers. But that does not mean that Vanessa hasn’t included the anything of top 10 best sustainable habits into het year of sustainability. She also ditches meat a certain point for example.

Sleeping Naked is Green

I say this because Sleeping Naked is Green is a very specific book with specific sustainable habits. In Sleeping Naked is Green Vanessa decides to dive into a green lifestyle. Over the period of a year she makes one sustainable switch every day, ending up with 366 new sustainable habits! The habits are all random and therefore quite a challenge!

Random but Important too

Even though all habits and measures she takes are quite random, I really like this book! It can be a great addition to your sustainable basis. With this book you can enbed the small sustainable switches into your life. She has 366 ideas which you can also take inspiration from (like I did). A few examples: the FreeRice app to combat hunger which I shared last week, showering in the dark and keeping the ‘do not disturb’-sign on the entire time you’re on a hotel. Just to name a few! But what I liked most of all: her personal experiences! This book is not just 366 tips to live more sustainable, dry and boring. No, it’s a story she tells. All the things she does and everything she experiences, it’s fun! This is an easy read and that’s usually a good sign.

Have you read Sleeping Naked is Green by Vanessa Farquharson yet? What did you think?

Yours sincerely,
