It’s been only 3 months since I last wrote a secondhand clothing inspiration post. In October I shared 6 new secondhand items I had bought. This feels very strange for me now that I am writing this since I aim to buy very little. I guess it’s time to count all my clothing items soon, to know where I stand. But that’s something for next time. Today I am sharing secondhand clothing inspiration with you. 5 items, all secondhand, all great!

For me, secondhand fashion is the base of sustainable fashion. Reusing something that was about to be thrown away, that’s about as sustainable as it gets. In this category I try to share everything about secondhand fashion. From what I bought to what I think our fashion system should look like in general.
6 Secondhand Clothing Items I Bought
It’s been a while since I shared my last secondhand clothing finds. 8 months to be precise. I wish I didn’t buy any clothing since then. I wish my wardrobe was perfect and that I don’t want anything else. Reality check, this is not the case (yet!). The past 8 months I did buy clothing again. But as you know me, I bought these items secondhand. Today I want to share these purchases with you. Let me show you the 6 secondhand clothing items that I bought the past months.

Hi everyone! I know, it’s the midst of a pandemic and maybe not the best time to buy clothing, but I couldn’t resist. I bought 3 pieces of clothing and I’m loving them, I couldn’t wait to share. Of course I did buy secondhand, like I do in 99% of my purchases. Every once in a while I share my purchases to show you that a secondhand wardrobe is sustainable, but also fun and stylish! Here’s what I bought the last couple of months.

The past few months I’ve had the feeling of wanting to analyse my closet. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of items this year, one by one. And so, I want to see where I am today. Do I have double items or things I don’t wear? There is one specific category of clothes which I’ve made conscious choices about the past months: shoes. And so, before I analyse my closet I am going to analyse my shoes first in this post. How many shoes do I own and how do I evaluate on the things I have?

Over the past months (my guess would be about 6 months) I bought 6 secondhand clothing items. Now that I write this down it seems like quite a bit. Yet, I’ve gotten rid of even more and so I’m still working on that capsule wardrobe I aspire to have. With these new purchases I really feel like I’m getting closer, I’m extremely critical on what I buy. Today I want to share which items I bought, how they fit in my aspired capsule wardrobe and how I reflect on these purchases.

A few years ago I graduated and therefore I got some money from my grandparents to buy a ring. I could choose any kind, for them it was just important that I had an item to remember them by. At the time I was a beginner when it comes to buying secondhand, but my dad helped because be knew an auction site. We searched the site for a while and after a while a had found a beautiful ring: I bought it and had a secondhand piece of jewelry.

I’ve written a lot about secondhand fashion already. Whether I think it’s the solution to the fashion crises we’re facing, what clothes I got rid of or bought and even a guide on how you can create a sustainable wardrobe. I always say that I am well on my way to a sustainable wardrobe and that secondhand fashion is fun! But I’ve never really showed you what my wardrobe looks like. Soon I want to document the entire thing and count how many pieces I own right now. But today I want to show you my daily outfits for the period of one week. To show you what secondhand fashion looks like on a daily basis. Continue reading “What I wear in a random week”
How to get rid of clothes in a responsible way
I am on a journey to my ultimate capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe can have many forms and has a different meaning to different people. To me it is a small wardrobe with items that I love and can all match. It is an ongoing journey. And so I buy things, but also get rid of things. When a piece of clothing does not serve me any longer, I want to get rid of it in a responsible way. But how do I do that?

One of my long-term goals is to have a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is minimalist wardrobe. Every person has a different meaning for it, some want a certain number of items, some want to wear everything which is in there. Since I work towards a minimal wardrobe, I am critical every day and get rid of items. Today I want to show you the 36 items I got rid of in the past months.

Last week I shared some ‘new’ secondhand purchases of mine. I do that a lot, you can read more articles about secondhand clothing I bought among others here, here and here. I also wrote a post on why and how I buy secondhand. Conclusion: it’s the most sustainable option. That’s why I do it. But do I think secondhand fashion is the solution to the whole fast fashion crisis? I’ll tell you. Continue reading “Do I think secondhand clothing is the solution to the fast fashion crises?”
