36 clothing items I got rid of

One of my long-term goals is to have a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is minimalist wardrobe. Every person has a different meaning for it, some want a certain number of items, some want to wear everything which is in there. Since I work towards a minimal wardrobe, I am critical every day and get rid of items. Today I want to show you the 36 clothing items I got rid of in the past months.

Do I think secondhand clothing is the solution to the fast fashion crisis?

Last week I shared some ‘new’ secondhand purchases of mine. I do that a lot, you can read more articles about secondhand clothing I bought among others here, here and here. I also wrote a post on why and how I buy secondhand. Conclusion: it’s the most sustainable option. That’s why I do it. But, do I think secondhand clothing is the solution to the fast fashion crisis? I’ll tell you.

4 secondhand clothing items I bought

It’s time again, I bought ‘new’ secondhand clothing. A few weeks back I bought four secondhand pieces of clothing. My mom and I went to the thrift shop by coincidence. Since I got my driver’s license now, I wanted to practice driving in our car for the first time. The thrift shop in Enschede we went to is quite a long way and so we went by car. Not very sustainable actually, but the clothing is! Here’s more about the 4 secondhand clothing items I bought.

8 Secondhand Clothing Items I Bought

Sometimes I decide to dedicate a full blogpost to one piece of secondhand clothing. Sometimes I write about two things I bought. It depends on my mood and what point I’m trying to make. But, lately there have been so many things I want to write about that I just want to catch up a little bit. In this blogpost, I’ll show you the last 8 secondhand clothing items I bought.

How to Buy Sustainable Clothing

On this blog I’ve shared a bunch of posts about clothing I bought. Sometimes new clothing, like when I bought underwear or tights. But mostly secondhand, such as this jeans I bought or this swimsuit. In each post I explain the choices I make, but I realized I never really wrote a guide on buying sustainable clothes. So, here it is today! Today I’ll tell you how to buy sustainable clothing.

Buying secondhand jeans

You might think it’s not worth the effort to write a blogpost about just one piece of clothing I bought, but I disagree. So, here I am, sharing just one item I bought a while back. Why? Because I think it’s important to value every single sustainable choice made. So, here I am, with a small blogpost about buying a secondhand jeans.

Series: ‘Genaaid’

Before you read any further, I must tell you something first. The show I am about to share is broadcasted on Dutch television, so it therefore is in Dutch. I like to have consistency in my blog, that’s why is blogpost is in English. So, if you’re not Dutch, you probably can’t understand the show. Or you can work on your Dutch haha. Anyway, the series ‘Genaaid’ is a show about fast fashion ánd sustainable fashion. And I feel like you should watch it.

Buying Secondhand Swimwear

Today I want to show you a ‘new’ secondhand piece I got my hands on. Since I think some people have a wrong view of secondhand clothing, I want to show every piece I buy myself, to give an image of secondhand clothing. Because, sometimes I hear the reasons why people like buying only new: they think secondhand clothing looks bad and old. I think I can proof that’s not true. Today I’ll tell you about buying secondhand swimwear.

Secondhand Clothing Shop-log

Once every while I go through my closet, to see if I still love every item that’s in there. And with love I actually mean love. Clothing should make me feel beautiful, great and sexy in my opinion. So I can rock each day with some new fresh energy! So, I took out some items that didn’t make me feel like that anymore and brought them to my favorite secondhand store. When I’m there, I always sneak through the clothes. And yes, I have found some great new items I’m in love with! Want to see them? Here’s my secondhand clothing shop-log.

Documentary: The True Cost

The past I bought a new sweater. At least, it was new to me, because I bought it at a secondhand shop. I’ve had a love for secondhand clothing for most of my life. My mom took me with her to thrift shops and to secondhand fairs too. It is a bit of a search, but when you find something it’s often unique. The love for secondhand clothing that I got from my mom was enough reason for me to buy secondhand, but when I saw the documentary The True Cost another 100 reasons were added.
