Vegan restaurants in Berlin

Posted on May 27, 2019June 8, 2025

A few weeks ago I went to Berlin with my boyfriend for a weekend. Even though I had a blast, a weekend is too short. Berlin is huge! And amazing at the same time. So much to see, so many hotspots, a woman from the bike tour we did told us Berlin is six times larger than Paris! In this blogpost I want to tell you about the vegan restaurants in Berlin. So that when you visit Berlin, you’ll have a blast too. I’ll post it today, but I’m sure I’ll edit it through time, since I’ll definitely go back one day (or more!). So, here it is. A blogpost about vegan restaurants in Berlin.

1990 vegan living

This restaurants as the name says is 100% plant-based! It has Vietnamese food, mainly small bites to share. I was soooo exited to visit this. This meant I could share all of the food! Normally ‘sharing’ my food means they eat my vegan food but I can’t eat their non-vegan food. But, this was perfect. I loved the place and the food was amazing! I’ve visited this place twice already and would recommend it to anyone.

Brammibal’s donuts

This is a must visit, I swear! They have vegan donuts! Must I say more? No. I had two of them and they were delicious. Loved it, absolutely loved it. Quick, vegan and delicious! Brammibal’s donuts has multiple location in Berlin.

Die Vegane Fleischerei

I don’t know if I can call this a restaurant, because they close at 7 P.M. However, this is a vegan food hotspot. Die Veganer Fleischerei is a vegan butcher. They offer vegan meat that you will find nowhere else. From vegan liver, to steaks, to tuna steaks. And besides the meat they also offer rare vegan finds like filled paprika with cheese. You can have a sandwich or salad in the place itself (which I did), but it’s also like a butcher where they offer dead animals: you can take away vegan meat as well. I bought as much as I could carry for back in The Netherlands haha. The counter looks like any other butcher and that’s amazing. Die Vegane Fleischerei also have a webshop, but they ship only to Germany or Austria. You’ll won’t know what you see at Die Vegane Fleischeri.

Geh veg

This place is for breakfast and lunch. To be honest I did not really know what to expect from this place, but is surprised me in such a good way. We came there and it was a lovely small and cozy place with a good spot in the sun for us to eat. They had some amazing-looking vegan cakes in the display case, but I went for a burger and an Oreo shake. Oh my, that was the best thing ever! My boyfriend had such a colorful plate too, with all sorts of flavor! I loved it.

REWE (100% Plant-Based)

Throughout Berlin there are three supermarkets called REWE. And one of them is 100% plant-based. I was so exited for this place! It’s basically like a normal supermarket, but everything is vegan. No need to be thinking or looking, you can just eat everything. I bought some things which we don’t have in The Netherlands yet, like caramel sauce, garlic bread for in the oven and cheese to be baked in the oven. Oh and not to forget! They serve soft ice cream. God, I wish they had this in my city. Or my country, that would be nice too.

The Crazy Little Greek

When I visited The Crazy Little Greek, I had been vegan for over 8 years but had never been to an all vegan Greek restaurant. Just the fact that this restaurant was Greek, was already so special. It’s a very cosy place. Very small with classic Greek elements and Greek music. The food was pretty good! I would definitely recommend trying the Moussaka, I personally liked that one best. The rest of the dishes are pretty good too, but they just put Tzatziki on basically everything. I like the Tzatziki but once you’ve tried one dish, you therefore have tried them all. I think they can do a little better on that aspect, but other than that I am enthusiastic about this place.

The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is an Italian bakery, entirely vegan. They serve both sweet and savory pastries and they’re all equally delicious. When I visited, I tried almost every item on the counter because everything just looks so amazing. The pistachio cream, the focaccias, the pudding… Oh my. When I tried the pudding sandwich (I don’t know if that’s the correct word, but it’s the one we use in Dutch), I hadn’t had one in 8 years because nobody ever offers them vegan. The nostalgia! Without the animal abuse, can things get any better?

Vegan gyros pita at Mauerpark

This is not a restaurant (as far as I know). The vegan gyros pita place is a little stand in the Mauerpark (alongside all the other food stands in the park). They serve just one item: vegan gyros pita. It may not sound too special, but this was honestly the best vegan gyros pita I have ever eaten in my life. The pita is 9 euros (in 2025) and absolutely worth that. It’s so good that I just have to mention it in this article. The gyros so juicy, the pita nice and warm and flavorful, and the sauce so fresh. When in Berlin, you have to go here.

VEG’D

VEG’D is a place for vegan burgers and fries. And according to my German friend, it’s pretty famous in Berlin. I get that, because both the burgers and the fries are amazing. They have both ‘normal’ burgers and smashed burgers (which are very sloppy and juicy). The don’t serve one time of burger but have burgers from all kind of brands. Making a choice is quite hard haha, because literally everything on the menu is tempting. This place is not a fancy restaurant, but just a casual place with amazing burgers. Good for any moment of the day.

I went to Berlin in 2017 and I absolutely loved that city. I’m itching to go back now that I’m more of a ‘conscious’ eater, and try the countless vegan cafés! I’d also go to Tempelhofer Feld which I reluctantly had to miss out of my itinerary last time.

Yes, Berlin is heaven for vegans! Next time I’ll visit I’ll go to a vegan sushi restaurant I think, we don’t have one here in the Netherlands. Tempelhofer Feld is just lovely, a moment to relax and enjoy Berlin, I hope you’ll have fun next time visiting Berlin 🙂

when a teen goes green

Hi! My name is Romee and I live an eco-positive life. An eco-positive lifestyle is a lifestyle with more positive than negative impact on beautiful planet earth. Compared to most people, I live extremely sustainable. I don’t fly, eat meat or animal products, buy only secondhand clothing, etc. On the other hand, I try to help others as much as I can by donating a big chunk of my income, donating plasma, donating poop (yes!), volunteering, etc. On this blog you can read all about my lifestyle with only positive impact. I also have a Dutch Youtube channel (@duurzaamleven) and Dutch Instagram (@duurzaamlevenro). If you have specific questions for me, feel free to ask me anything.
